I started playing the accordion when I was 8 years old. It's hard to believe - 50 years ago. I took lessons for 12 years and played professionally for more than 5 years. Some friends and I started a dance band through our high school years called the Don Roberts Quartet. We played many of the formal dances in the area of Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley, CA. I went on to perform as a strolling minstral at several places in Southern California including the famous Brown Derby. When I turned 21, I stated playing on a nightclub circuit. I was way too young and immature.

14 years later and until l my own children were born it was then that I again took any real interest in my accordion. Eventually, Paul Hall and I began playing and singing together at St. Columba's Episcopal Church. I never had been a vocalist, so that has been fun and I'm still trying to be a better vocalist. Ha! Paul has the patience of Job. We enjoy playing just about every kind of music; some gospel, bluegrass, country, rock n' roll and even some dance swing. We try to stay away from the polkas, though.
